John Faratzis has over 14 years of experience producing shows and commercials for streaming, cable, and network television. In that time, he produced hundreds of hours of primetime network television.
John is currently in Europe working as Co-Executive Producer for season two of Vanderpump Villa on Hulu, and last year, he was Co-Executive Producer on season one in Carcassonne, France, along with the Vanderpump Villa Reunion Special, filmed in Los Angeles.
He has served as Showrunner for Halloween Wars & Holiday Wars for Food Network, Nickelodeon’s Extreme Golf show, Slime Cup, and Amazon Prime’s music travel documentary, Hip Hop World.
In the past few years, John worked with The Office and Parks and Recreation co-creator/EP Greg Daniels as Supervising Producer on his first unscripted show, HBO MAX’s critically acclaimed My Mom Your Dad.
At one point from May - June 2021 John had three primetime network shows airing in the same week on different networks. Hell’s Kitchen (FOX), The Ultimate Surfer (ABC), and Crime Scene Kitchen (FOX).
John began his career as a Production Assistant at the MTV VMA's and quickly joined the team full-time to serve as an Assistant where John learned the ropes of production management from some of the industry’s best.
Later he joined Big Brother as a story assistant and assistant to the Co-Executive Producers. John was quickly promoted to Segment Producer and would go on to produce seven consecutive seasons of Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother, and Big Brother: Over the Top. Over the course of seven seasons, he served as Segment Producer, Story Editor, Story Producer, Senior Story Producer (3x), and Senior Producer.
In his years at the CBS Radford lot, John learned the art of fast-turnaround television from the industry’s pioneers. Each week, The Sunday episode would film from Thursday evening to Friday evening and then air Sunday on CBS. The weekly feedback from the EPs, network, and millions of viewers was an invaluable lesson in storytelling and lighting fast post-production.
John’s first foray into the food competition world was Hell's Kitchen Season 16 for FOX, where he worked as Co-Producer. From that moment on, he was hooked on food. John then produced two seasons of Food Network Star with Triage Entertainment for Food Network. He later went on to serve as Senior Producer on a season of Iron Chef Gauntlet and Iron Chef America, both for Food Network.
John’s next Food Network experience would take him to Food Network’s #1 rated Halloween show, Halloween Wars. After one season as Supervising Producer, John was asked to return as Co-Executive Producer and Showrunner for the next season of Halloween Wars.
After finishing Halloween Wars, John was Co-Executive Producer and Showrunner for Holiday Wars, also for The Food Network.
Holiday Wars was John’s first airable pilot, and it went straight to series for two more seasons and counting on Food Network.
John then jumped headfirst into the golf world, as Senior Producer for ABC's two new shows, Holey Moley, Executive Produced by Stephen Curry and Eureka Productions, and Family Food Fight, for Endemol Shine USA, Executive Produced by Curry's wife, Ayesha.
That winter Faratzis dipped his toe into the digital world, working with First Media / SoYummy to consult on the launch of a new YouTube channel.
John spent most of 2019 splitting his time between Las Vegas and Hollywood to run a team as Senior Producer on the newest season of Hell's Kitchen for FOX. To end the year, Pilgrim Studios brought John in to consult on a highly prized development project currently being pitched to network.
The first half of 2020 (pre-covid) John was Supervising Producer on Season 3 of ABC’s Holey Moley. Then the world shut down.
During the shutdown, John focused on development and signed a shopping deal with Critical Content for one of his original unscripted competition formats.
For much of the second half of 2020, John worked as Senior Producer on the surfing competition for ABC, "The Ultimate Surfer." He filmed the show on location at the WSL Surf Ranch in Leemore, CA.
Early 2021 was all about baking mysteries, where Faratzis was Supervising Producer on FOX’s new Crime Scene Kitchen hosted by Joel McHale and famous chef Curtis Stone.
